How to Start

Step 1:
Listen
Go to Coopradio.org to listen to our programming , or scroll through our artist page to listen to the music we've already created!

Step 2:
Create
Make a demo of a song that you can send to us so we can see if you are a fit for our program.

Step 3:
Interview
We will get in contact via e-mail or phone to confirm the details of the recording process!
Get discovered. Introduce yourself by signing up, and we’ll get in touch with you if you meet the requirements.
Please note that this program is focused on providing studio time to those who would otherwise not be able to access these services.
Requirements
What does it take yo join the Community Recording Studio project?

Age
We are looking for youth between the ages of 16 and 30 to help them record their ideas.
Residency
You must be physically visit the station and spend time recording or producing at our facilities.
Knowledge
We are looking for musicians with a basic understanding of how to write a song, and concepts they would like to record. There is no technical requirements, as we will help you with the entire recording process!

Learn more-
Phase 1
Creative brainstorming / Songwriting
Work together with community members at Co-op Radio to craft the concept and lyrics to your song. You are also welcome to bring an existing idea for a song you have already created!

Phase 2
Arranging & Tracking
Using Pro Tools or Ableton, record the different segments of your song, then arrange them into the perfect order.

Phase 3
Editing & Mixing
Tweak the fine details of your project and find an equal balance between the different audio pieces in your creation.

Phase 4
Mastering
Learn the basics of a simple mastering chain and add the extra punch to your mix so it can sit naturally in a mix next to your favourite songs on Spotify.

Phase 5
On-air Radio
Share your creation with the world through the opportunity to showcase your song on a Co-op radio program or podcast!

Co-op Radio offers a variety of training opportunities to our programmers, and podcast training opportunities for the general public.

Compilance & Policy
Learn your responsibilities as a programmer. This online course covers Co-op Radio Policies as well as CRTC broadcasting regulations.
